Multiple Tony Award-winning and third longest running musical of all time, "Les Miserables" is an epic tale silhouetted against the French Revolution. The score is searing and soaring; the work passionate and powerful. It has been seen by more than 50 million people and performed in 21 different languages. The titanic saga is foremost the story of escaped convict Jean Valjean, his struggle with good and evil, and redemption for us all.

New York Auditions will be held May 20-22. There is an Equity Chorus Call on May 20, and auditions will be held by appointment only on May 21 and 22. Actors wishing to be considered for an appointment in New York should submit their headshots and resumes on www.breakdownexpress.com or casting@therep.org.

Roles to be cast in “Les Miserables:”

Jean Valjean – Tenor (low A to high B) 30’s-50’s. Physically robust. Mature and compassionate.

Javert – Baritone (low F to high F sharp). 30’s-50’s. Antagonist to Jean Valjean. Rigid, stern, foreboding.

Fantine – Mezzo-Soprano. (low G flat to E flat). 20’s – 30’s Beautiful young woman robbed of her life and pride. Mother to Cosette.

Marius – Lyric Tenor (low A to high A flat) 20’s. Romantic hero. Compassionate and courageous. Falls in love with Cosette.

Cosette – Lyric Soprano (B flat to high C) 20’s. Daughter of Fantine, adopted by Valjean. Strong willed heroine in love with Marius.

Eponine – Mezzo Belt (low F sharp to E) 20’s. Street smart angel with a dirty face.

Thenardier – Baritone (C to high G flat) 30’s-40’s.Devilish Bottom Feeder. Provides the show’s comic relief.

Madame Thenardier – Mezzo Belt (low G sharp to D). 30’s-40’s. Wife and partner in crime to Thenardier. Greedy, vulgar, larger than life.

Enjorlas – Baritone (low A to high G) 20’s. The student leader. Brave, daring, leads the revolution.

Grantaire – Baritone (low A to F). 20’s. Gruff booze hound. Easy-going and likeable.

Gavroche – 8-12 years old. Heroic, street-wise young boy.

Young Cosette - 8-12. (Soprano) Brave young girl with a strong, clear singing voice.

Young Eponine – 8-12. Daughter of the Thenardiers.

Male and Female Ensemble – 20’s – 30’s. Excellent legitimate singers who move well to play a variety of roles from students to the denizens of France.

Rehearsal Dates:  Rehearsals begin in Little Rock August 19.
Run Dates:  Opening is September 12, Closing is October 12. There is a possible one week extension.
Requirements:  Those auditioning in Little Rock are asked to bring a headshot and resume, and be prepared to sing 32 bars from the show or in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. A movement call may follow the audition. All roles are currently open and are available for union and non-union adults and children. Auditionees under 18 must have a parent or guardian call to schedule the audition.
