Johnson is returning to The Rep where she has performed the roles of Vivian Bearing in Wit, Penny in You Can’t Take It With You, Kate in All My Sons, Woman in Towns Facing Railroads and Alice in The Retreat From Moscow. Other recent credits include Big Mama in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Portland Center Stage), Leni Riefenstahl in Leni (Insight Out Theatre Collective), Flora in Humble Boy (Artists Repertory Theatre), Anna in Boston Marriage (Coho Productions) and Meg in The Birthday Party (Profile Theatre Project). Other theatres include The Old Globe, The Empty Space, Tacoma Actors Guild, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Pioneer Theatre, Sacramento Theatre Company, San Jose Repertory Theatre and many seasons with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. JoAnn has toured Asia, Africa and the Middle East in the role of A in Three Tall Women. She most recently directed Vanya (Artists Repertory Theatre), Macbeth (Quintessence) and Big Love (University of Portland). She has a BA in English and a MA in Rhetoric.
