A new dramatic work for the stage created from poems found in several of Arkansas native Jo McDougall's books. Intertwined with music, Towns Facing Railroads provides an intimate, sometimes haunting look at the joys and sorrows of people who live in small towns.Small Towns at Dusk by Jo McDougall (Excerpt from Towns Facing Railroads courtesy of The University of Arkansas Press.) Cars on the bypass move between places with restaurants we have forgotten the names of. Fireflies appear and disappear. Night takes the sidewalks first and then the marigolds and the sprinklers, the children's skates. Nothing argues with the ambling dogs except the tree frogs and the occasional slamming of a screen door.
