"THE MOST EXHILARATING ROCK MUSIC EVER MADE" - Los Angeles Times Originally a 1969 double-LP by the band The Who, Tommy weaves the tale of a psychosomatically deaf, mute, and blind boy who becomes an international pinball superstar. Songs like "Sensation," "See Me, Feel Me" and "Pinball Wizard" helped define "rock opera" for a generation.Karen Martin of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette says: "The work of Brian Hissong as adult Tommy along with being the show's narrator (additional background information is provided by an inspired video display at the rear of Mike Nichols' versatile set), is remarkable for its muscularity, sensitivity and charisma. Hissong is a wonderful singer, capable of winding his voice around the zigzagging vocal ranges of Townshend's songs." Unlike Ken Russell's dark movie, the stage version of The Who's Tommy takes an inspirational journey through young Tommy's life as he reaches adulthood and finds his true calling. This "Amazing Journey" is set against The Who's crashing guitar riffs, performed by a live band and surrounding the theatre in true rock concert fashion.
