A modern musical classic of sweeping grandeur and romantic passion, Evita tells the story of Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentinean president Juan Perón. Immensely popular with ordinary Argentineans (but equally despised by the middle class and powerful factions in the army and political circles) Eva Perón rose from obscurity to political power and was eventually considered the spiritual leader of the country.“…quite simply musical theater gold. Compelling characters, dramatic conflict and iconically catchy tunes…” - Chicago Stage Review
Maria Eberline as Eva Peron Created as a rock opera concept album, Evita’s success led to productions in London's West End and on Broadway. In 1996, an Academy award-winning film of the musical was made starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. A 2006 London revival followed, and the ever-popular combination of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music, Tim Rice’s lyrics and Evita’s timeless rags-to-riches story continues to enthrall audiences worldwide. Winner of 7 Tony Awards and 6 Drama Desk Awards
