Musical Theatre | K - 2nd Grades

Discover the fundamentals of musical theatre technique by integrating acting, singing, and simple choreography in the development of Broadway repertoire. With a focus on proper vocal technique, body awareness, acting through movement, and how to work within an ensemble to tell a story, students will apply their skills in a short presentation for friends and family.

Behind-the-Scenes | 3rd – 5th Grades

Go behind-the-scenes at The Rep to explore sound, lights, costume, props and set design. In this introductory course, students will take a backstage tour, meet members of The Rep’s professional technical staff, and learn about the design and construction of a production. Put your own creativity to work in a final hands-on design project!

Theatre Dance | 4th – 7th Grades

Learn jazz and theatre basics in this high-energy dance class focusing on Broadway-style choreography. Beginning with warm ups and across the floor exercises, students will hone their through warm-ups and practice picking up choreography in theatre combinations. Learn how to fill your movement with meaning and unleash the fun in expressing yourself through dance! All levels welcome.

Creative Performance | 6th – 8th Grades

Have you ever wanted to create original theatrical work? Unleash your imagination, collaborate with your fellow ensemble, and create a unique devised performance. Devised theatre is an art form based in physicality and improvisation. Students will pull inspiration from the world around them to create a one-of-a-kind final showcase that integrates music, movement and voice.

On Camera | 9th – 12th Grades

Lights… Camera… Action! Explore the fundamentals of on-camera technique in this acting class where students will workshop real-world T.V., film, and commercial scripts. Learn how to scale your performances from stage to screen, explore your type, and hone your on-camera audition skills. No experience required.

Intermediate Tap | 8th Grade - Adult

Make some noise in this course that builds upon the foundation of tap dance technique. With warm ups and drills focusing on tap dance vocabulary, clarity of sound, rhythmic variety, aesthetically quality, and the beginnings of improvisation, students will apply their skills to rhythm and show tap choreography. This class is not for beginners. Students must have a basic tap dance vocabulary including shuffles, flaps, riffles, paradiddles, drawbacks, etc. Tap shoes required.

Scene Study | Adult

Put your acting toolbox to work by creating dynamic scenes for presentation. This scene study class allows students to test their analysis, character development, and performance skills in a playful and safe environment. Led by professional actor and teaching artist Greg Myhre, most recently seen on The Rep’s stage in Macbeth and The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, students will receive individual coaching and direction from a trained eye as they breathe life into classic and contemporary scene work. Showcase your work in an informal presentation at the end of the semester.
