The body is the actor’s most essential tool. Through activities and exercises centered on awareness, imagination, physical control, and emotional connection, we will explore ways to create dynamic characters using the stage as a canvas and movement as the paint. This class is inspired by the teachings of world-renowned theatre artists Jacques LeCoq and Jerzy Grotowski, including mask and clown techniques as well as commedia dell’arte. Actors will leave feeling more grounded with new tools to fully embody a character, confidently make big and bold choices, and command the space. This course is designed for all levels of actors and all levels of movement ability.
