State of the Arts in Arkansas Starting to Shine
Arkansas Repertory Theatre has amazing donors. Wow! And thank you! The last few years, and the last few months, have been inspiring. Arkansas has always been a generous state, and the state of the arts in our community is really starting to shine. Need proof? Here are just a few recent examples.
Rep Young Artists Celebrate Holiday with ASO
The Rep's Young Artist Program (SMTI) will partner with The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for their 2013 holiday show, Holiday Fantasies. This holiday collaboration is conducted by Phillip Mann and Written and Directed by The Rep's Resident Director and Director of Education Nicole Capri.
Robert Hupp Honored at 2013 Governor's Arts Awards
On Friday, November 15, The Rep's Producing Artistic Director, Robert Hupp was awarded the 2013 Governor's Arts Award for Individual Artist. The Governor's Arts Awards is an annual recognition ceremony presented by the Arkansas Arts Council to honor individuals and corporations who have made significant contributions to the arts in Arkansas.
Rep Drive Closing in Funds for Young Artist Space
The Arkansas Repertory Theatre is two-thirds of the way to meeting its funding goal for a performance space for youth and experimental productions on Main Street. The Rep’s staff has raised about $269,000 of the needed $400,000 to sign a long-term lease with developers Scott Reed and Wooten Epps in the 500 block of Main Street. The developers offered the theater space in the historic row of buildings being renovated as part of the city’s arts corridor plan and have extended the deadline for the group to sign a lease.
SMTI to Perform Original Musical: Project Elan
Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s Resident Director and Director of Education, Nicole Capri has assembled a talented team of young musicians and writers to create a brand new, all-original musical, Project élan. This year’s summer program will be unlike anything past participants have experienced before at The Rep.
Rep Awarded Grant for Henry V
Arkansas Repertory Theatre is the only performing arts organization in Arkansas to receive this year’s Shakespeare for a New Generation grant. The Rep will stage Henry V in September, offering the production to more than 20 schools through student matinee performances over a three-week run, reaching more than 1,500 students across Arkansas.
REP ANNOUNCES 2012-2013 SEASON
Arkansas Repertory Theatre (The Rep), the state’s largest nonprofit professional theatre, is proud to announce its 37th MainStage Season. The new season will include dramatic contrasts, classic productions and a world premiere production to form a season that exemplifies The Rep’s mission of producing diverse work of the highest artistic standards.
Robert Hupp Named NonProfit Executive of the Year
Producing Artistic Director Bob Hupp won the NonProfit Executive of the Year Award at the 2012 Arkansas Business of the Year awards, held Tuesday, February 21 at the Statehouse Convention Center.
Renovation Provides New Amenities and Offerings
The final phase of renovations at 601 Main Street addressed the lobby spaces, added seating, expanded the rest rooms and updated The Rep’s private lounge, which was renamed in honor of Vince Foster, former chairman of The Rep Board of Directors. Take a look at some of the new amenities patrons can now enjoy.
