REP OFFERS FREE TICKETS TO FEDERAL EMPLOYEES IMPACTED BY SHUTDOWN

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.Arkansas Repertory Theatre is offering free tickets to a performance of their season opener, Chicago, for federal employees who have been furloughed or working without pay during the government shutdown.

“These are our friends and neighbors feeling the impact,” said Karen Rudolph, director of marketing and audience engagement. “We talked as a staff and decided we don’t want these employees to miss out on a fun night at the theatre because of a situation out of their control.”

Each employee may request up to two tickets to the Wednesday, Feb. 21 performance that begins at 7 p.m., while supplies last. To reserve tickets, employees should call the Box Office at (501) 378-0405. Tickets can then be picked up at the Box Office at 601 Main St. with a valid federal employee ID. In addition to the performance, a Director’s Talk will be held pre-show at 6:15 p.m. in the auditorium.

This offer will continue regardless of whether a deal is made and the government reopens.

“We already offer discounts to military personnel,” Rudolph said. “It only made sense to make this offer. It’s really just an extension of our mission to produce the best theatre to entertain, engage and enrich local and regional audiences.”
