BYE BYE BIRDIE YOUNG ARTIST AUDITIONS

Arkansas Repertory Theatre announces youth auditions for its summer 2020 musical production of BYE BYE BIRDIE, with a book by Michael Stewart, lyrics by Lee Adams, and music by Charles Strouse. This production will be directed and choreographed by Broadway’s David Bell.

 

The Rep seeks a diverse company of local young performers to portray a high-school aged YOUNG ENSEMBLE and 10-year-old RANDOLPH. Please read below for specific audition information and instructions.

 
 
 
 

Young Ensemble Auditions

 

The Rep seeks a diverse company of young performers who are in 9th through 12th grade (at the time of auditions) to create a youth ensemble, with the potential for named roles.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Jan. 8th between 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM, and Jan. 9th, between 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM at The Rep’s Annex, 518 Main St., Little Rock, AR 72201.

Callbacks are by invitation only and will be held on Jan. 12th between 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Callbacks will consist of a dance call, singing selections from the musical, and reading scenes from the script.

At the initial auditions, young actors should prepare a 1-minute monologue and 16-32 bars of a song (musical theatre repertoire preferred) with sheet music. Accompanist provided. Please bring a headshot or recent photo and a resume to the audition. An actor’s full audition package should not exceed 3 minutes in length. Questions about auditions? The preliminary production calendar is as follows:

  •  Meet and Greet with Young Ensemble |  Feb 1
  •  Young Ensemble Workshop | Feb 2
  •  Weekly Training | Jan 27 – April 27 (Mondays, 7-9 PM)
  •  Rehearsals (daytime) | June 9 – July 2
  •  Tech (day times and evenings) |  July 3 – July 5
  •  Performances (weeknights and weekends) | July 7 – Aug 9 (possible extension to  Aug 16)
 
 
 

Randolph Auditions

 

The Rep seeks a young artist to play the role of Randolph (male, 10 years old) – Kim’s younger brother. Randolph idolizes his father yet he’s often ignored by him. Intelligent, well-behaved and loyal. Artists of any gender are welcome to audition.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Jan. 8th between 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM, and Jan. 9th, between 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM at The Rep’s Annex, 518 Main St., Little Rock, AR 72201.
