THE 24 HOUR PLAYS: LITTLE ROCK ARE BACK!

This one night only event will take place on October 14th at the Arkansas Rep with all net proceeds benefiting THE VAN, whose mission is to locate and assist our unhoused Arkansas neighbors. You don’t want to miss it!

So, what is the 24 Hour Plays? It’s 6 writers, 6 directors and 24 actors coming together to create 6 original plays all conceived, written, rehearsed, and performed in a 24 hour period. This concept began in New York City in 1995 and has been replicated and produced in cities around the globe. Our first Little Rock outing raised $15,000 for Arkansas tornado relief and we can’t wait to raise even more for The Van!

It’s a fast paced night of theatre featuring outstanding Arkansas talent with plays written by Kevin Delaney, Brian C. Earles, Dariane LyJoi Mull, James Mainard O’Connell, Lavinia Roberts, and  Werner Trieschmann. The plays will be directed by Ben Barham, Mark Burbank, Christy Hall, Deandre Lewis, DayDay Robinson, and Taijee. The one night only event  also includes musical guests Stephanie Smittle and Kami Renee.

The 24 Hour Plays is a unique opportunity for theatre communities to immediately respond to what is happening around them. In what other format can you experience something in your community, write a play about it. and have it performed for an audience the next day?

According to Mark Armstrong, the Artistic Director of The 24 Hour Plays NYC, “During this enormously challenging time for the creation of new work, The 24 Hour Plays are here, bringing the community together and creating singular evenings of theater where anything can (and does) happen.”

The shows created by our dynamic creative team have never been seen on any stage in the world and may never be seen again.
